Touch a Truck

Today we went to the 5th Annual Touch a Truck presented by Junior League of Richmond. This event offers children a hands-on opportunity to explore heavy machinery and meet the people who build, protect and serve the Richmond community. There was everything thing there from police cars to military helicopters. Jordan especially loved the farm equipment and Fun Bus.

Sunday Morning at The Museum

We decided to take advantage of our museum membership and spend the morning checking out the new exhibit. Even though there is a new tree house there, Jordan chose to stick with what he knows. We hung out with the dinosaurs and played in backyard playground. I think this should be enough bribery to let me watch my Broncos take on the Colts later today.

A Trip to the Zoo

Daddy thought it would a good idea for us to visit the local zoo this past weekend. The weather was perfect for being outside. We had a great time seeing all the animals and riding the safari train and the carousel. Daddy was even brave enough to feed the giraffes.......Jordan and I were not even going there. We had a great time.

Jordan Finally Goes to Chuck E Cheese

Jordan had been giving not so subtle reminders that he wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese. It doesn't help that the commercial comes on at least 10 times a day. So after I picked him up from daycare we made a pit stop to meet the rat. The look on his face when he saw the sign the from the parking lot was priceless. We had a ball and it seems that Monday night is the perfect time to go.

Jordan's Big Boy Room

Since Jordan has accepted the upcoming arrival of his little sister (even though he said she can only stay for 2 days) we decided to give him a new room. He loves Spongebob, so Daddy and I surprised him with his own little pineapple under the sea room.

A Trip to the Library

This week we are continuing to work on cutting, tracing and correct pen use. Jordan has gotten very good and is able to stay within the lines when doing mazes. He's also pretty much mastered straight line cutting. We will begin working on zig-zags and curves as the next step.

This week read "Jungle Book" and did a jungle scene craft. We visited our area library and borrowed some books, since we have no more room for new books. Our second book and craft came from "My Lucky Day" about a pig out smarting a hungry fox. We made the hero pig in the story. He's so cute it makes me almost want to give up pork….not really.

Jordan really enjoys making crafts after reading new or old books, he talks about it for days afterward.

What We're Reading

The Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister, is about a little fish who learns a lesson about sharing. We especially like the shiny foil scales on the fish. Inspired by the book we decided to make our own. I think we did a pretty good job. All you need is some colorful paper, cut into small pieces, glue and construction paper cut into fish shapes.

We also read All Aboard the Dinotrain, a book we've read a million times. To make it more exciting we made our own trains when we were done. It was pretty fun to make some old books feel new again.
