Our little ladybug turned a month old yesterday and she treated her grateful Mommy to 3 full hours of sleep twice in the same night. Some people may think that still sucks but after a month of waking up every hour and a half and staying up for at least thirty minutes....it was awesome!! I feel like a new woman.

We're Getting There.....
We are finishing up week two of taking care of our two little people. Daddy went back to work this week so I am flying solo. It has been interesting to say the least. Ava has been sleeping good and is pretty easy going with the exception of one day when she seemed to be possessed by demons and spent most of day crying!
As a result Jordan had thoughts of moving out in hopes that Mr & Mrs Potato Head will take him in.
After that day passed Jordan and I spent some time together baking a Spongebob and Patrick cake that he tried to eat with every meal.

Since our little Ava's early arrival we've been trying to get back to normal....whatever that means from now on. James has been busy decorating the house and yard for Christmas. We even managed to make our day after Thanksgiving tradition of getting the tree up.
Jordan is enjoying being a big brother. He loves helping out and giving his baby sister kisses. We started back on his preschool curriculum since he will be home with me for a while. He loves our one on one time while Ava's sleeping. I get plenty of " I love you Mommy" during this time.
Ava has to be the best baby ever. She rarely cries and smiles when she sleeps. Unlike her big brother at this age she doesn't mind being put down even though we can't seem keep her out of our arms. I don't even mind waking up with her during the night. We get a chance to chat while everyone is asleep.

I'm a Big Brother
The new addition to our family made a surprise early arrival on Tuesday, November 23rd. We welcomed Ava Christina a week early weighing 6lbs 6oz and a whopping 19in long. She is a very petite little lady and absolutely beautiful!!
Jordan is adjusting pretty well to sharing the spotlight with his little sister. He has been very helpful as well as pointing out all the things he can do that she can't yet.

Super Reader!
Jordan has progressed from learning the alphabet to sight words and now we have moved on to books!! I ordered some books that contain all the sight words he already knows to encourage him to read on his own. Tonight he decided to put on his favorite costume and show off his new skills. I'm so proud him I can barely contain myself. I am so amazed at his desire to learn new things. He has always enjoyed being read to, now he is loving the fact that he can read to us. All this at just 3 years old.....wow!!

Halloween Recap
Everyone knows I love to dress Jordan in costume.....this is why Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. We started with a party at daycare and ended the week with trick or treating at a local shopping center.
The party at daycare was packed full activities and Jordan was up for everything.

Happy Birthday Mommy
Daddy and Jordan made sure I had a great birthday week. Even though Daddy was out of town he had presents and cards deliver to me throughout the week. He also called Jordan's daycare and had them have Jordan and his friends make me a special present. Jordan has been singing happy birthday all week and asking everyday is it still my birthday. He presented his class creation to me again today with a song.
We completed the day with a round of miniture golf and trip to Friendly's where Jordan got to eat all the goodies Mommy can't have. A perfect day all around with the exception of the Broncos poor performance at home :(

Visit to the Pumpkin Patch
We decided to visit a local garden this past weekend to get our pumpkins to decorate for Halloween. We had a great time on the hay ride, running through the maze and buying over-priced pumpkins :)

Touch a Truck
Today we went to the 5th Annual Touch a Truck presented by Junior League of Richmond. This event offers children a hands-on opportunity to explore heavy machinery and meet the people who build, protect and serve the Richmond community. There was everything thing there from police cars to military helicopters. Jordan especially loved the farm equipment and Fun Bus.

Sunday Morning at The Museum
We decided to take advantage of our museum membership and spend the morning checking out the new exhibit. Even though there is a new tree house there, Jordan chose to stick with what he knows. We hung out with the dinosaurs and played in backyard playground. I think this should be enough bribery to let me watch my Broncos take on the Colts later today.

A Trip to the Zoo
Daddy thought it would a good idea for us to visit the local zoo this past weekend. The weather was perfect for being outside. We had a great time seeing all the animals and riding the safari train and the carousel. Daddy was even brave enough to feed the giraffes.......Jordan and I were not even going there. We had a great time.

Jordan Finally Goes to Chuck E Cheese
Jordan had been giving not so subtle reminders that he wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese. It doesn't help that the commercial comes on at least 10 times a day. So after I picked him up from daycare we made a pit stop to meet the rat. The look on his face when he saw the sign the from the parking lot was priceless. We had a ball and it seems that Monday night is the perfect time to go.

A Trip to the Library
This week we are continuing to work on cutting, tracing and correct pen use. Jordan has gotten very good and is able to stay within the lines when doing mazes. He's also pretty much mastered straight line cutting. We will begin working on zig-zags and curves as the next step.
This week read "Jungle Book" and did a jungle scene craft. We visited our area library and borrowed some books, since we have no more room for new books. Our second book and craft came from "My Lucky Day" about a pig out smarting a hungry fox. We made the hero pig in the story. He's so cute it makes me almost want to give up pork….not really.
Jordan really enjoys making crafts after reading new or old books, he talks about it for days afterward.

What We're Reading
The Rainbow Fish, by Marcus Pfister, is about a little fish who learns a lesson about sharing. We especially like the shiny foil scales on the fish. Inspired by the book we decided to make our own. I think we did a pretty good job. All you need is some colorful paper, cut into small pieces, glue and construction paper cut into fish shapes.
We also read All Aboard the Dinotrain, a book we've read a million times. To make it more exciting we made our own trains when we were done. It was pretty fun to make some old books feel new again.
